Our fine city of Norwich is celebrated today in our digital worship.

A Service of Reflection and Thanksgiving for the City of Norwich features contributions from many different people across the city.

In the opening address, the Dean of Norwich, the Very Revd Jane Hedges, says: "Usually at this time in the year, many of us would have gathered at City Hall snaking our way through the streets of central Norwich, accompanied by Whifflers, Snap the
Dragon, Civic dignitaries and many others in procession to the Cathedral, the Mother Church of this Diocese and City of Norwich."

She adds: "Today, as we gather online as citizens of this fine city, we celebrate our common heritage. Ours is a city that has embraced strangers and welcomed exiles and refugees over the centuries who have enriched our cultural, commercial and spiritual life. So today we give thanks for the diversity that has built this city and we pray for an end to prejudice and injustice that all people may live as God intends - in love and peace and fellowship.

"Today we will hear from the experiences of those involved in healthcare and education, from those who in their civic role see deeply into the needs of this city and from those who lead our civic life; and we commit ourselves again to do justice, love kindness and walk humbly with our God."

While we remain unable to gather together in the Cathedral for public worship at this challenging time, the Cathedral Clergy are continuing to ensure the daily rhythm of worship takes place by praying Morning Prayer at 8.30am and Evening Prayer at 5pm.

We have produced booklets for Morning Prayer and Evening Prayer that you can use at home each day. These can be found on the Explore Faith page on the Cathedral website.

People are also very welcome to email prayers to be offered to prayers@cathedral.org.uk
