Take a ride on our slide and enjoy a journey of discovery.

A 50ft helter skelter is set to spring up in the Nave as part of the Seeing It Differently project which aims to give people the chance to experience the Cathedral in an entirely new way and open up conversations about faith.

Visitors climbing up to have a go on the ride will be treated to unique views of the Cathedral and its famous medieval roof bosses before enjoying a helter skelter ride like no other!

Other Seeing It Differently activities will include the chance to:

  • Lie down and look up at the Cathedral’s incredible ceiling and roof bosses.
  • Take part in a trust trail in the Cloisters and consider how you see things differently when you cannot actually see.
  • Sit inside the word of God and see the Bible as you have never seen it before.
  • Take part in an ancient spiritual practice and let a labyrinth lead your thoughts.
  • Discover inspiring stories of people who have seen things differently.
  • Enjoy a 30-minute Walking Salvation tour and find out more about the Cathedral’s roof bosses and the stories they tell.

Seeing It Differently runs from Thursday 8 August until Sunday 18 August.

The helter skelter will be open to the public from the afternoon of Thursday 8 August and will cost £2 per person. All the other Seeing It Differently installations are free.

General opening times for Seeing It Differently will be 10am-5pm Monday to Saturday and 12 noon-3pm on Sundays.

Groups of eight people or more should book in advance by emailing jjones@cathedral.org.uk

General visitors can just turn up on the day.
On arrival you will be able to collect a timed slot card for a helter skelter ride at the Cathedral's Donations Desk and then pay your entry fee at the ride.
