For the first time since the Reformation in the 1530s, a medieval Mystery Play, Cain & Abel, is going to be performed in Norwich on Saturday 28 May. There will be two free performances of the play outside the Cathedral's west front at 10:30am and 3:00pm respectively.

Cain & Abel was the stonemasons' guild play in the streets of the medieval city. The play has been adapted for modern audiences from the original medieval N-Town version by East Anglian medieval drama expert, Professor Gail McMurray Gibson.

In keeping with the original medieval performances, it will be delivered by the Master Mason and apprentices of the guild, rather than by actors.
