Norwich Cathedral is a great place to work and so we hope you’ll consider applying for a position with us.

We are currently recruiting for the post of carpenter to provide in-house carpentry skills to the Cathedral in order to keep the historic Close properties in good repair, quickly and efficiently.

The position is for 39 hours per week and the usual hours will be Monday to Thursday 8.30am to 5pm and Friday 8.30am to 4pm.

Cathedral Close
The successful applicant will join the Cathedral Works Team which consists of a foreman, three full time carpenters, a bricklayer and a maintenance labourer. Other trades are brought in to carry out electrical, gas, or redecoration works as required.

The Works Team is based in the Cathedral Close and maintains the 120 Close properties owned by the Cathedral Chapter. There is a need to respect the existing fabric and carry out sympathetic, preferably traditional, repairs. This new post is an additional one to support the Chapter’s commitment to the maintenance and energy performance of the Estate.

If you would like to discuss the post before you apply and/or visit the Cathedral, please contact Phil Thomas, Cathedral Estates Manager, on 01603 218300.
