Lay Canon

A lawyer, Norfolk born William Armstrong retired as Senior Coroner for the County after nineteen years in September 2013. He has been a Legal Assessor to the General Medical Council and continues to sit as a Mental Health Tribunal Judge. He has taken a leading role in public affairs and in organisations in the City and County. He is Chair of Healthwatch Norfolk and involved in a number of charities and organisations, including being President of Norwich and Central Norfolk Cruse, President of Norfolk Community Law Service, Patron of Nelson’s Journey, Patron of the Mancroft Advice Project and a Trustee of Voluntary Norfolk. He served as Sheriff of Norwich for 2014-15. Mr. Armstrong was awarded the OBE in the New Year’s Honours List in 2015 for services to the bereaved and to charity. He was appointed Lay Canon in September 2013 and became a member of Chapter in September 2014.
