The fun-filled day of music-making will finish with the children singing Choral Evensong in the Cathedral with Norwich Cathedral Choir’s boy and girl choristers at 3.30pm.

Parents will also be able to hear a presentation about music at the Cathedral and Norwich School and take a tour of both the Cathedral and the school.

Ashley Grote, the Cathedral's Master of Music, said: "Our Be a Chorister Days have become a hugely popular addition to our annual music programme here at the Cathedral and last year we welcomed nearly 70 children who came to take part. It is a wonderful opportunity for boys and girls – whether they want to be choristers or not – to experience the thrill of singing in the Cathedral alongside so many other children."

Music has been sung at Norwich Cathedral for more than 900 years and today’s Norwich Cathedral Choir features 20 boy choristers aged eight to 13 who attend Norwich School along with six lay clerks and six choral scholars.

Norwich Cathedral Girls’ Choir was founded in 1995 and is one of the longest established choirs of its kind. The choir is made up of more than 20 girls aged 11 to 18 from schools across the county.

The Cathedral also has a Chamber Choir for adults which is made up of about 50 experienced amateur singers.

Be A Chorister Day is at Norwich Cathedral and Norwich School is on Saturday 2 November from 11am to 4.30pm.

It is free to take part but children need to be registered in advance.
