Prayers for Notre-Dame

16 April 2019
Following last night's terrible fire in Paris, our thoughts and prayers are with Notre-Dame and the people of France. Prayers were offered at last night's Holy Week Eucharist, which was taking place just as the fire took hold on our sister Cathedral, and throughout today's services at Norwich Cathedral prayers will continue for all affected by the fire at Notre-Dame.
Notre Dame

The Dean of Norwich, the Very Revd Jane Hedges, said:

"What a heartbreaking sight it was last night to see the Cathedral of Notre Dame in flames – the news of the fire came through while we were in the Cathedral for the first of our Holy Week Addresses and it was terrible sitting in our own beautiful building to think about a sister Cathedral being destroyed in this devastating way.

"Often these tragic situations bring people together in a very special way and that is certainly happening in Paris at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the people there and we trust that by pulling together with support from people around the world Notre Dame will be re-built and once again be the focus of worship of almighty God and of service to the people of France and people from around the globe."
