Charity Sleep Out 1
The Dean and Chapter "warmly" invite you to join them for a sponsored sleep out in the Cathedral Cloisters on Friday January 26 2018.

People are invited to take part in the sleep out and to raise money through sponsorship for the Church Urban Fund, a charity which seeks to tackle poverty in their work with the homeless in Great Yarmouth, Kings Lynn and other cities across England.

Canon Andy Bryant, who is organising the sleep out, said:

"At Norwich Cathedral we are aware that homelessness in our city and across the country is on the rise. Through the sleep out we want to raise awareness of the issue and help support the Church Urban Fund in its work amongst some of the most vulnerable groups in cities across the country.

"One night sleeping out in the Cloisters is no great hardship compared with those for whom homelessness is a daily reality, so please do come and join us and help us raise funds for a very good cause."

The sleep out is part of the Cathedral's Homelessness Weekend, during which there will be a series of events taking place.

Prior to the sleep out, on Friday 26 January at 7.00pm, theatre company Cardboard Citizens will perform a play in the Nave called Priority Need. Tickets are £5 - £8.50, with all proceeds going to the Church Urban Fund.

Then on Sunday 28 January, Michael Newey (Chief Executive, Broadland Housing), gives the address at Choral Matins at 10.30am. This will be followed by a congregational meeting in the Weston Room from 12.30pm (soup & roll lunch provided), with a screening of the film Calling Home by Megan Fox, which explores issues relating to homelessness.

If you would like to join in the sleep out please contact Canon Andy Bryant and he will send you more details. You can donate to the cause online here.
