A collection of nine Cathedral staff and volunteers are preparing to participate in this weekend's Run Norwich 10k race.

The event, which takes place on the morning of Sunday 6 August, will see 6,000 runners passing through the famous Cathedral grounds. The route also incorporates other major city landmarks including Norwich Castle, The Forum and Carrow Road.

When the runners reach the historic Cathedral Quarter they'll enter The Close via Bishopgate and run through the Cathedral grounds, before exiting out of the Erpingham Gate.

The streets are set to be lined with supporters cheering on participants and the public are very welcome to find their vantage point in The Close itself.

Louise Adamson, who has organised the Cathedral team, said:

"We had so much fun running last year's event that we decided to take part again, this time with an even bigger team! For those of us who participated in 2016, we'll have the opportunity to better our previous time. All of the team members will be wearing a special Cathedral branded running top, so the public can spot us and give us a cheer!"

The team is raising funds for the Cathedral's Music Appeal, including the restoration of the organ and the boys and girls choirs. If you would like to sponsor them, forms are available at the Donations Desk in the Cathedral Locutory and at the Chapter Office's Reception, 65 The Close. Alternatively please send any donations to the finance office marked 'Run Norwich Music Appeal', payable to 'Norwich Cathedral'.

The race starts at 9.30am on Gentleman's Walk (in front of the market), with the finish line located in front of City Hall. To see the full Run Norwich 2017 route click here.
