The Music Department

The Music Department

The musicians of Norwich Cathedral uphold a tradition of choral worship that stretches back almost unbroken to 1096.

Under the leadership of Canon Jeremy Haselock (Precentor), the Music Department comprises:

  • Ashley Grote, Master of Music
  • David Dunnett, Organist
  • Jonathan Stamp, Organ Scholar
  • Kristina Bartlette, Liturgy and Music Administrator
  • 20 Boy Choristers
  • 24 Girl Choristers
  • 6 Lay Clerks
  • 6 Choral Scholars
  • 40 adult members of the Cathedral Consort

The musicians’ repertoire ranges from performing the glorious masterpieces of the Renaissance to giving premières of music by contemporary composers such as John Tavener and James Macmillan. As well as leading Cathedral worship throughout the year, the musicians give concerts in the UK and abroad, and make broadcasts and recordings.

Norwich Cathedral also plays host to many music concerts and recitals throughout the year and welcomes visiting choirs from all over the world.
