Children are invited to take part in a special activity afternoon at Norwich Cathedral on Wednesday 17 August.

The theme is City of Stories and there will be lots of different workshops for primary school-aged children to enjoy!

The activity afternoon will run from 12.45pm until 3pm. Tickets cost £3.50 per child plus booking fee and must be booked in advance by noon on Tuesday 16 August.

Workshops are designed for primary school-aged children and each child will take part in three different workshops chosen in advance from the list below.

August 17

Come and explore Norwich, the city of stories. Learn more about its history, the importance of the Cathedral and the special people who have had a part to play in the story of Norwich. Plus – think about your own story too!

Choose from:

Choice A – Stories of the Cathedral
Fun and games exploring how the Cathedral was built - including building an arch!
Craft activity looking at mosaics inside the Cathedral building.
Interactive drama with monks who lived at the Cathedral for its first 450 years.

Choice B - Stories of Important People
 (more suitable for older children)
Knight school - find out about the knights from the castle and have a go at being a knight.
Learn about the visit of Elizabeth I in 1578 and meet Elizabeth I herself!
Craft activity to make your own print inspired by the graffiti of the people who built the Cathedral.

Choice C – Stories Which Come Alive
Stories of Julian and her cat, and our own Cathedral cat, Budge, who makes the Cathedral come alive today.
Learn about the stories which fill the nave ceiling and use collage to make one come alive in 3D.

All sessions are run by an education practitioner and all materials are included.

Children under four are welcome to attend but will not be catered for and cannot be booked into a workshop. A reminder that all children must be accompanied at all times by an adult. Please limit adult numbers on site to keep additional numbers down.
