First and third Fridays of the month

Do you find it difficult to establish a good working structure to your study time? Is quiet study space hard to find?

Studium is a new way to study at the Cathedral Library on the first and third Fridays of the month, providing a safe and ordered space for learning to flourish, problems to be shared, and spiritual growth to be enabled.

This initiative offers support to researchers through all three areas of our Benedictine heritage:

  • Worship: the study time will begin and end with optional prayer time
  • Learning: enabling work, discussion of that work, and study support
  • Hospitality: welcoming all into the space and encouraging all to join together for refreshments and community

The Studium timetable typically runs as follows:

  • 9.30am: Gather
  • 9.45am: Morning prayer in one of the Cathedral chapels
  • 10.00am: First study period
  • 11.15am: Coffee break
  • 11.45am: Second study period
  • 1.00pm: Closing prayer
  • 1.15pm: End/Lunch
  • 2.00pm: Option to stay on for a labyrinth walk (first Fridays) or Lectio Divina (third Fridays)
