Oscar award winning Actress Hayley Mills became a Hostry Festival patron this year, and we are so fortunate to be able to profile her extraordinary career this autumn. Her list of credits include: TIGER BAY (1959) which launched her career and led to Walt Disney giving her a five year contract in such classic films as POLLYANNA (1960), THE PARENT TRAP (1960), WHISTLE DOWN THE WIND (1961) based on her mother’s novel, IN SEARCH OF THE CASTAWAYS (1962), SUMMER MAGIC (1963), THE CHALK GARDEN (1964) starring opposite her father, THE MOON SPINNERS (1964), THAT DARN CAT (1965), THE TROUBLE WITH ANGELS (1966), THE FLAME TREES OF THIKA TV series, GOOD MORNING MISS BLISS/SAVED BY THE BELL, TV series, and WILD AT HEART TV series.

Hayley is the daughter of Norfolk-born actor Sir John Mills & novelist-playwright Mary Hayley Bell, with her sister Juliet Mills also having enjoyed a wonderful career in film. Laurence Olivier and Noel Coward were her godfathers. “Acting is just a natural thing in my family. Other boys and girls go into the family business. So do we” Hayley Mills.
