Like the idea of a summer picnic in the Cathedral Cloisters? Well, on Sunday 5 June we’re inviting you to join us for food and fun in celebration of the work of volunteers!

Sit out on the (fingers crossed sun soaked!) grass and enjoy the lunchtime entertainment from Sing Your Heart Out and The Black Dog Music Project. Plus you'll have the chance to wander the Cloisters walkways, which will be buzzing with activity as local charities join us to celebrate the contributions that volunteers make to their organisations, as well as sample 15 minutes 'taster tours' in the Cathedral.

Last year there were over 50 local causes pitched up, each on hand to speak with visitors about opportunities to get involved. This summer there will once again be plenty of voluntary groups coming along, ranging from musical groups and animal sanctuaries to homeless services and housing trusts, plus many more!

The day starts at 11.00am, with people free to drop in with their picnic any time before 3.30pm. A special service then follows in the Cathedral to celebrate the work of volunteers, during which the congregation will hear the stories of people whose lives have been changed through volunteering.

We often say that the world needs more good-news stories, so we hope you will come and join us as we uncover and celebrate the positive impact that so many people have in Norfolk!

If you’re travelling from West Norfolk, a coach has been arranged to collect visitors from Tuesday Market Place in Kings Lynn at 12.00pm. The coach will set down and pick up at Whitefriars, Norwich and be in the same position at 4.50pm, ready to depart at 5.00pm. Coach seats are available on a first come first served basis up until 12.00pm on Friday 3 June 2016. To book please contact Lynn Rolph on 01603 677353 or email lynn.rolph@jarrold.com.
