Gospel of the Poor: Exploring 50 Years of the Theology of Liberation
Join us in the latest of our Norwich Centre for Christian Learning sessions in the Cathedral Library.

The term 'theology of liberation' was established by Gustavo Gutiérrez, O.P. in A Theology of Liberation: History, Politics, Salvation (1971). From a critical reception at the time by the then-Cardinal Ratzinger (later Benedict XVI), it took a long time to gain the apparent approval of the Catholic church we see with Pope Francis and the beatification of Óscar Romero (Feb 2015). We will look at the theology of the movement across the churches and its influence on political theology today.

Tutor - Dr Paul Overend. Cost - £10.
