'Mother & Child - exhibition of work by Vanessa Pooley

An exhibition of sculptures by leading British artist, Vanessa Pooley, to coincide with Mothering Sunday (14 March). Vanessa produces tactile bronze sculptures of women and children, and her work celebrates motherhood, the female form and the bond between a mother and her child.

Romero Week - 30th anniversary of the death of Archbishop Romero

To mark the 30th anniversary of the death of Archbishop Oscar Romero, three events will be taking place in Norwich.

Choral Evensong at the Cathedral on 21 March will include a public dialogue between the Bishop of Norwich, the Rt Revd Graham James, and the Bishop of East Anglia, the Rt Revd Michael Evans, who will be talking about Archbishop Romero. After the service there will be an opportunity to ask questions.

To mark the anniversary date of the Archbishop's death on Wednesday 24 March, a Mass will be held at St John's (Roman Catholic) Cathedral at 7.30 pm.

On Saturday 27 March, Bishop Michael will lead a "Learning Together" study day on Archbishop Romero from 11.00 am to 3.00 pm at St George's Catholic Church Hall, 223 Sprowston Road, Norwich

St Brendan's Voyage Exhibition by Maz Jackson

This exhibition, by award-winning artist, Maz Jackson, www.mazjackson.eu, celebrates the Voyage of St Brendan the Navigator. Maz's work features a series of egg tempera paintings, limited edition woodcut prints, handmade books and an 8 metre linen scroll depicting the amazing story of Brendan, a 5th century Irish abbot who is said to have discovered America, 900 years before Columbus, on his quest to find the Paradise Island of Saints. There are over 100 versions of this tale, in several languages, as it crosses between truth and legend, and links with many cultures and travellers of the time.

The exhibition will be open daily from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm - except Sundays. Maz Jackson will be in the gallery Wednesdays-Saturdays (NOT 15, 23, 24 April) and will give gallery talks each Wednesday and Saturday at 11am and 2pm (NOT Saturday 24 April).

Whales and Wonders - children's print workshop

Free one-day print workshop for children aged 8 - 12 in conjunction with the Maz Jackson exhibition in the Hostry.

The children will celebrate the Easter Story through the amazing voyage of St Brendan, a fifth century seafaring abbot.

Children can explore block printing techniques to create a scroll following the aural tradition of story-telling.

There will be a mini showcase at the end of the day to present the children's work to family and friends.
