Visit Us

Each year many thousands of people visit Norwich Cathedral from all over the world. Whatever your reason for coming we want to make you feel welcome.

This section contains information about what there is to do and see, and practical advice on how to make the most of your visit. If you cannot find the information you need, please contact our Reception(01603 218300) and we will try to answer your question.

Opening hours

The Cathedral’s normal opening hours are 7.30am - 6.00pm daily (7.00pm mid-May to mid-September), but special services or events mean that we occasionally have to restrict access for visitors. To avoid disappointment please check the diary for the day you propose visiting us.

Access

This is a medieval building. We have done our best to ensure access for everyone but if you think you might need assistance, please contact our Reception (01603 218300) in advance and we will do our best to help you.

We make no charge for entry but we do need your help please

We believe that this beautiful building is for everyone. However it costs £3,700 per day to maintain the Cathedral’s fabric and mission.  Contrary to popular belief, and unlike some cathedrals on the continent, we are not directly funded by the state. So your contribution is greatly needed and appreciated. You can donate online and there are donation boxes near the west and south doors. If you are a UK tax payer, Gift Aid envelopes are available which enable us to reclaim the tax on your donation; with Gift Aid we can currently add an extra 28p to every £1 you donate at no cost to you.

Your help in this way will enable us to keep the Cathedral open and free for future visitors.

We take great pride in Norwich Cathedral and all that it has to offer. We look forward to welcoming you.

Make the most of your visit. We have produced a Cathedral Guidebook (£5) packed with information and striking photographs which you might like to read before you visit or buy afterwards as a memento.

Many other books about Norwich Cathedral are also available online or from our Gift Shop at the back of the Nave.
