Do we need to book if we are going to lead the tour ourselves?
We ask all groups to book their visit in advance. The Cathedral can get very busy and no-one enjoys visiting if there are too many groups or activities in the building at the same time. Moreover if we know you are coming we can warn you of any unexpected closures, special services or any other factor that might affect your visit. We also arrange special events from time to time and schools and other groups on our database are invited personally.

How do we make a booking? Whichever type of visit you are planning please help us to help you by making it clear when booking what you want your students to gain from the visit, so that we can support your aims. Please download and return your booking form.

How far ahead should we book?
We advise booking at least two months in advance and ideally a term in advance, particularly if you have a specific date in mind. We have to limit the number of large groups visiting the Cathedral on any one day to ensure that all visitors have the opportunity to move freely around the building.

When can visits take place?
Schools and young people's educational group visits are possible Monday to Friday, 10.00am to 4.00pm (preparations for Evensong begin at 4.00pm) subject to special services and events; Saturday and Sunday by arrangement.

How much does a visit cost?
Admission to the Cathedral is free but we ask that all schools make a contribution to the Education Department, thus enabling us to maintain and improve the service we offer. A donation of at least £1 per pupil is suggested, with teachers and helpers free. There may be a charge for workshops and activities. Please discuss your particular requirements with the Education Department. Cheques should be made payable to 'Norwich Cathedral' and brought with you on the day.

What size of group can I bring?
Ideal group size is 15, with a maximum group size of 25 per guide.

How long does a visit last?
Guided tours of the Cathedral last approximately one hour. Workshops and activities differ in length.

What about children with special needs?
We welcome children with a range of special needs - physical, learning, emotional, sensory. Please alert us when you book and we will discuss with you how we can make appropriate preparations. We can provide parking within the Close for wheelchair users. The Cathedral is a medieval building but we do all that we can to make it accessible.
