The Norwich Cathedral International Links group is answerable, through the
Cathedral Community Committee, to the Dean and Chapter. It was formed in
1996 by the then Dean, Stephen Platten, to establish links with Christian
churches in different countries and of different traditions, thus promoting
friendship and greater understanding through dialogue, exchange visits,
and, where appropriate, offering practical assistance. It has established strong links with the Republic of Georgia, with both the Georgian Baptist and Orthodox churches, both through visits and support for projects. There is another strong link with the Dutch Reform Grote Kerk in Haarlem, Holland, exchanging visits and organising discussion on matters of mutual interest and concern. The group also supports the link with twinned city Koblenz, Germany, through the Diocesan European Links and in the twinned city of Novi Sad, Serbia, gives practical support to the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organisation as a member of the Norwich Churches Novi Sad Support Group. Other links are with Trondheim in Norway and Fécamp in France. For further information contact the Dean's Office, tel: 01603 218308. |
