Modern Theology

The core of the modern theology collection was originally the working Library of the Lincoln Theological College. Its arrival in Norwich coincided with the building of a new Library reading room, completed in 2004. The Lincoln books were complemented by books from the Martin Kaye Library, previously held elsewhere in the Close. This part of the Library is a loan collection and anyone can apply to become a borrower.

The annual subscription to become a borrower is £12, allowing the borrower to take up to eight books out on loan for up to six weeks. Anyone can apply  subject to the Library’s Reader Regulations. The borrower can make renewals by telephone, email or in person. A postal loan can be arranged; the Library will pay postage out, the borrower must pay return postage. There is no charge for reference use of the modern theology collection.

The modern theology collection is continually being expanded by purchase of new books. The aim is to support local ministerial training, theology teaching in the region, and the study and reflection of anyone interested in developing their own Christian understanding.

The modern theology collection also stocks a number of journals.

There are around 20,000 books in this collection making it the largest modern theology loan Library in Norfolk.

The modern theology collection is accessible during Library open hours.
