Cathedral Canaries Pre-school Music Group

What does the preschool music group do?

The music is singing-based with lots of action and body songs, rhythm sticks and percussion instruments. We add to the fun by using various visual aids and stimulus material such as lycra and parachutes. All instruments and equipment are provided with the emphasis on making music and fun for all.

In addition we link in with other Cathedral activities for children. For more information see the Cathedral diary.

We enjoy sharing in other community-based activities.

When and where does the preschool music group meet?

The group meets at 2.00 pm on Wednesdays in term-time in the Weston Room of the Hostry Visitor and Education Centre. The session lasts for thirty minutes.

When the weather is good, we move the children outside to the Cloister Garth.

All these venues are marked on the Cathedral plan.

Who can attend the pre-school music group?

It is a drop-in group, open for anybody to come whenever they want, including visitors to the Cathedral that day.

What does a session cost?

Families are asked to give a donation in the region of £3.

All proceeds go towards funding the work of the Cathedral’s Education Department.
