More detail on legacies

More detailed information about leaving a Legacy to Norwich Cathedral.

There are many different kinds of legacies. Most of the legacies we receive are either ‘Pecuniary’ or ‘Residuary’.

  • A Pecuniary legacy

This is a straightforward donation of a fixed amount of money. It is worth remembering that inflation will erode the value of this donation over time. Should you wish to leave a pecuniary legacy to Norwich Cathedral in your will set out below is suggested wording your professional adviser can use:

‘I give the sum of (amount in figures and words)……….pounds to Norwich Cathedral to be applied for the general purposes of Norwich Cathedral and I direct that the receipt of a proper officer for the time being of Norwich Cathedral shall be a complete discharge to my Executors'.
