Creation or Evolution - do we have to choose?

To mark the bicentenary of the birth of Charles Darwin and the 150th anniversary of the publication of On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection Norwich Cathedral recently hosted a special lecture organised jointly by

  • Norwich Cathedral Institute
  • Christians in Science and
  • Science and Faith in Norfolk.

The lecture was given by  Professor Michael Reiss, Assistant Director and Professor of Science Education at the Institute of Education, University of London and a Priest in the Church of England. Professor Reiss was formerly Director of Education for the Royal Society.

Professor Reiss explored how, since the 1859 publication of Darwin's work, many have supposed that a scientific account of life on Earth removes the need for a creator.

But what is the relationship between evolutionary theory and Christian belief 150 years later?

You can download a pdf of the lecture notes.
