Life as we know it at Norwich Cathedral simply wouldn’t be possible without the help of our hundreds of volunteers.

These people give up their time and talents to help improve the experience for the Cathedral community and our visitors. For this we are truly thankful.

The list of volunteering opportunities is varied and possibly includes activities that you might not have expected, such as:

  • Welcomers – meeting and greeting visitors as they arrive
  • Tour guides – offering knowledge and insight to our guests as they look around the Cathedral
  • Flower arrangers – making the Cathedral look even more beautiful with stunning flower arrangements
  • Library – helping with the running of the library and its many books
  • Broderers' – working with textiles in the Broderers’ Guild workshop
  • Teachers – assisting with school visits
  • Storytellers – engaging children as part of our family fun days
  • Gardeners – tending to the Herb Garden
  • Hospitality – supporting our catering team in the Refectory café
  • Gift Shop – providing helpful customer service to customers

We have currently suspended our general volunteer recruitment programme to give us time to adapt to the evolving Government guidance concerning the Covid-19 Pandemic.

However, we do have volunteering opportunities around the Dippy on Tour: A Natural History Adventure exhibition which is now rescheduled for summer 2021 at Norwich Cathedral.
