Sign up for the Cathedrals Cycle Route

27 April 2022
People are being encouraged to get on their bikes once again as the Cathedrals Cycle Route returns for a second year. The inaugural Cathedrals Cycle Route last year linked all 42 English Cathedrals to raise the profile of sustainable travel, to strengthen links with neighbouring Cathedrals, to encourage people onto their bikes and to raise money for worthwhile charities. The challenge is returning for 2022 but this time in reverse - starting at Newcastle Cathedral on June 6 towards Carlisle Cathedral and finishing back at Newcastle on 17 July - and now people are being encouraged to sign up for the Norwich legs of the tour.

Norwich's Cycling Champion this year is David Clover, ex-chorister and current chair of the Norwich Cathedral Ex-Choristers Guild, and David will be cycling the Cathedrals Cycle Route leg route from St Edmundsbury to Norwich on July 5 and then on to Ely on July 6 and Peterborough on July 7.

If you would like to join David on any of these legs (in part or in full) then please email

Alternatively, a limited number of places are available for free registration via this link:

David is also keen to hear from people who would like to be part of the welcoming committee outside the West Door for the riders from St Edmundsbury on July 5 and who would like to wish 'bon voyage' to the riders setting out to Ely on the morning of July 6.

The Cathedrals Cycle Route is supported by Cycling UK and commences at the start of national Bike Week.
